THE DESERT FLOWER (Rashaida, Palestinian Territories)

FIORE DEL DESERTO (Rashaida, Territori Palestinesi)

In Rashaida village, in the south-east of Bethlehem, about eighty Bedouin families live. They used to be proud nomads, rebels to external domination and linked to the tribal system. They have been forced to live in the refugees' limbo for five decades. Once their territory used to be around Jericho. After the six-day war, the Israeli government "moved" them several times, the first time a few kilometres from Bethlehem, the second one to the south, about an hour's drive from the city. This condition made many families uncertain about the future and immemorial of their past.
