YES, WE MUST (Palestinian Territories)

YES, WE MUST (Territori Palestinesi)

With the beginning of the state of Israel, the Palestinian Bedouins were forced to develop a social organisation totally different from what they shared before '48: their integration in the Israeli society was the model of a spatial, economic and social segregation. The Bedouins now live completely separated from the Jewish population. Although the standard of living of this population has grown over the past 50 years, their socio-economic status remains, however, one of the most precarious in that land.

YES, WE CAN (Burundi)

YES, WE CAN (Burundi)

To get to know this country, it is important to read the following news. Firstly the Parliament decided to abolish the death penalty and secondly the "sorcerers" systematically kill albinos to use parts of their bodies for magical rites. It is an ambiguous land, where without too many dramas witchcraft and evolved laws cohabit and where many refugees seek shelter. There are, however, so many homecoming expatriates too; between 2002 and 2007 over 350,000 of these had returned from the next-door Tanzania, but there are also Rwandan, Congolese and Ugandan migrants that, partially, have not left Burundi yet, and others, instead, have already been slaughtered. Alive or dead, they are all innocent victims of the perpetual instability of the politics in the Great Lakes' region.
