IN ANOTHER TIME (Jerusalem, Israel)

IN UN ALTRO TEMPO (Gerusalemme, Israele)

The Holy Sepulchre, according to the tradition, is the place where Jesus was crucified (the hill of Golgotha), buried and resurrected. Today it is inside the walls of the old city of Jerusalem, at the end of Via Dolorosa. It is the site where Christians live and pray the same God: Catholics, Orthodox, Armenians and Copts. Here he who believes feels the intensity of the mystery and he who does not believe perceives however the sanctity of an unexplained event.

BETWEEN THE EARTH AND THE SKY (Jerusalem, Israel)

TRA TERRA E CIELO (Gerusalemme, Isrele)

The Dome of the Rock, completed in 691 AC, is the oldest Islamic building in the world. Its place is the site of the Second Jewish Temple destroyed during the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AC. The Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwān, who initiated the construction, hoped it would “house the Muslims from cold and heat” and intended the building to serve as a shrine for pilgrims and not as a mosque for public worship. He wanted it to be unique and a wonder to the world and the dome was covered with gilded copper plates. Today only the Muslim faithful are allowed to pray inside.

ON THE ROAD (Burundi)

ON THE ROAD (Burundi)

Soil is glowing red. Red over red: houses made of bricks mixed with mud. Green over red: trees, large banana plantations, exuberant nature astride the equator. Rainbow over red: elegant and sinuous women dressed in bright clothes, with a child on their back and a tank on their head. White over red: rare musungu or wasungu (western) equal to money. Black over red: the eyes of a thousand children asking more than their hands, the hope and the debt of these developing countries.
